5 modi per utilizzare il bicarbonato

5 ways to use baking soda

1. Baking soda speeds up the cooking of legumes

Do your chickpeas take a long time to cook? Soak them overnight in a container with a teaspoon of bicarbonate and you will see the results!

When dried legumes are soaked, the peel swells with water and the starch contained inside the seed softens, giving a softer consistency. The legumes can be left to soak for a few hours, preferably overnight, after which they must be drained and rinsed, then cooked in a terracotta pot.

2. Baking soda tenderizes meat

If you want the boiled meat to become soft and tender, add at the beginning of cooking half a spoonful for every liter of water .
Unlike vinegar, which is also useful for making meat more tender, this method does not alter the flavor. In the case of preparing a steak a third of the way through cooking every half kilo of meat add a generous spoonful of bicarbonate and voilà the result will be a soft and succulent steak!

3. Baking soda sweetens tomatoes

Tomatoes, as we know, often have a sour note that overpowers their sugary side. To make them sweeter, simply add a pinch of bicarbonate during cooking.
When preparing the sauce, for example, a perfect solution to make it sweeter and more delicate is to use bicarbonate of soda, but you need to pay attention to the doses. It will be enough to add ¼ teaspoon every 6-7 tomatoes before the sauce has reached the boil.

4. Baking soda helps whip egg whites

Not everyone knows that when whipping egg whites, a pinch of bicarbonate speeds up their preparation. A trick that can save us a lot of time!
It will only be needed a pinch to obtain perfectly whipped egg whites, because bicarbonate of soda not only speeds up the time, but will make them more resistant when you have to incorporate them into the dough.

5. Baking soda helps cakes rise

Bicarbonate it is an essential ingredient to make your dough rise gently and we at Ar.pa know well what we are talking about because our Baking soda has been making every dessert soft and voluminous for years.

Bread can also be created by replacing yeast with bicarbonate, an example of which is the famous Irish Soda Bread: a crunchy loaf with a few simple ingredients, including the inevitable sodium bicarbonate .
